Septembre 20, 2001: a bi-lingual Conference on International Law and the Abolition of the Death Penalty took place in Galway on 21 and 22 September. It was organized by the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the National University of Ireland and the Centre de Recherche sur les Droits de l'Homme, Université Panthéon-Assas, Paris II. Sessions were held on key cases and on international norms, the diplomatic front and other international initiatives, and moves towards international abolition. Concluding remarks were presented by Robert Badinter, the former Minister of Justice of France.
