Sharma Kooky, a Kampala Asian businessman, was convicted and sentenced to death by hanging, for murdering his wife Renu Joshi. His brother, Davindar Kumar, was also sent to the gallows for the same offence. A Kampala High Court Judge, Moses Mukiibi, said Kumar abetted or aided Kooky in the murder of his sister-in-law. The two committed the offence on the Christmas eve of 1997 at their home on Martin Road, Old Kampala.
