Sheldon Ward, 23, was sentenced to death for the kidnap-rape-slaying of Nyanuer "Mary" Pal on Valentine's Day 2002. Judge Sharen Wilson sentenced Ward after a jury unanimously found that he killed 28-year-old Pal, a native of Sudan.
