Brima Sheriff of Amnesty International in Freetown called on President Koroma of Sierra Leone to commute all 12 death sentences to terms of imprisonment, including those of three women. In 2005, the Sierra Leone Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) made the abolition of the death penalty an imperative recommendation. The Government of Sierra Leone is under a legal obligation to implement all the recommendations of the TRC report.
