SINGAPORE. AUTHORITIES SAY HANGMAN NOT SACKED

Singapore's prison authorities denied the city-state's chief executioner Darshan Singh had been sacked.
"Darshan Singh has not been sacked and continues to be a contract officer engaged by the prisons department," a spokesman for the prisons department said.
Reports of Singh's dismissal had been reported by several newspapers the day before.
