SIT- IN IN ROME: TODAY h. 11 am

Today at 11.00 a.m. the Radical Party is organising a sit-in in front of the Palestinian Authority’s delegation offices in Rome in favour of a moratorium on executions in the territories.

1 MIN READ
close on the heels of the executions, in Gaza and Nablus, of two Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel, a military court in Betlehem condemned two other Palestinians to death for treason. The court took less than an hour to issue its verdict on Hussameddin Mousa Aslini, 19, and Mohammed Khatib, 29, in a trial without witnesses. The whole procedure took barely two hours, not counting 50 minutes to prepare the verdict, 20 minutes to read it and half-an-hour for the court-appointed defence lawyer to prepare his plea for mercy. The convicts cannot appeal their death sentences, and only Yasser Arafat can commute the verdict. The Palestinian Authority said that other trials, and harsher punishments, are coming up against Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel.
We are asking Arafat to concede pardons to Hussameddin Mousa Aslini and Mohammed Khatib, and the Palestinian Authority to stay the executions.
