Six people were hanged in the Islamabad prison of Zanjan, 200 kilometres west of Tehran. The six, Hassan Rezaeian, Sohrab, Mehdi Dashti, Morteza Jafari, Monachehr Mohammadi and Nejat Ahmadi, were allegedly part of a criminal gang who robbed jewellery stores in the region. Hasan Rezaeian (also known as Shapour) received another death sentence for murdering two people (Zahra Asakare and Jalal Aghabi) and was hanged in public.
