Sixteen Falun Gong members were arrested after being accused of causing an obstruction during a demonstration outside Beijing's Liaison Office in Hong Kong's Western District.
Nine of the 16 said they were injured when police used violence to remove them, while police said five officers were injured after being kicked and bitten by practitioners.
One of the four Swiss nationals in the group, Erich Bachmann, said the group had planned to stage a hunger strike in Hong Kong as no Chinese embassy would pass on their petition over the fate of 100 sect members in Changchun, Jilin province, who are allegedly facing the death penalty.
