Solaiman Hossain was sentenced to death in Bangladesh for killing his wife for dowry in a remote village of the country's Bera district. The court handed down the death award to Hossain, 32, who hailed from Datia village.
According to the prosecution, Solaiman, demanding dowry, meted out inhuman torture to his wife Shahnara Begum. She died when her eyes were gouged out on May 10, 1998.
