A court run by the militant group Al-Shabaab in Middle Jubba region on 24 September 2020 publicly executed a man suspected to be a sorcerer.
Sources in Jilib town located in the Middle Jubba region which remains under the tight grip of the militant group said the man identified as Ahmed Kusane Hassan was killed by the militants for allegedly bewitching a married couple in Joorraha area to destroy their marriage.
The judge reportedly ruled that witchcraft was an act of apostasy before sending the suspect to face the firing squad.
