"Some people have said that the death penalty should be reintroduced," said Nard Ndoka, leader of the Assembly group of the Democrat Party during an interview on Albanian radio. "In my personal opinion, the fact that we have abolished it is not the reason for the current growth in crime. This is also confirmed by statistics of Western countries and studies carried out by specialists. So, the reintroduction of the death penalty is not the solution. I think that the important thing is to have the functioning of the rule of law and all the state instruments. The criminals should not be set free. The courts and the prosecution offices should work properly."
