The five were charged with murdering an individual in 1995 in Warapola, Hasalaka and injuring another.
The order was issued by Kandy High Court Judge UB Karaliyadda.
The defendants were also issued a 50 year prison sentence for disruptive behaviour.
One of the five defendants had passed away during the period that the case was being heard.
