former OIC Angulana Police Station Inspector D. Newton, Police Constables G. I. Kumarasiri, Nihal Jayarathna and Reserve PC Janapriya Sumanaratna were sentenced to death by Sri Lankan High Court Justices Wijesundera, Warawewa and Wickremasinghe.
They allegedly abducted and murdered two inmates of the Angulana Police station, Dinesh Tharanga Fernando and Danushka Udayakantha Aponsu. The four were also sentenced to forty years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs.100,000.
