SRI LANKA: DEATH SENTENCE FOR MURDER CONVICT

in Sri Lanka, Colombo High Court Judge Thilak Thabrew sentenced Liyana Pathiranage Wickramanayake, alias Janaka, to death after he was convicted of killing Mohotti Arachchige Sunethra Almeda of Kirulapona on April 3, 1999. According to the evidence the victim was a mother of three. Wickramanayake was known to the victim as he had come to build her house. However, after an argument, Wickramanayake fatally stabbed Almeda with a knife.
