A person found guilty regarding a murder which had taken place in Shrawasthipura, Anuradhapura in December 2003 has been sentenced to death by the Anuradhapura High Court.
The preliminary hearing of the case was held at the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court while it was later taken up at the High Court, where the defendant was indicted by the Attorney General.
Following an extensive trial, High Court Judge Sunanda Kumara Ratnayake delivered the verdict after the defendant was found guilty of the murder charges beyond reasonable doubt.
Nawarathna Banda, 61, a resident of Aluthwewa in Anuradhapura, was sentenced to death by the court over the stabbing to death of a person on December 14, 2003.
