In Sri Lanka, Colombo High Court sentenced a trishaw driver to death for trafficking and retaining heroin.
The accused Pallegama Ralalage Sunil  Karunaratna Bandara of Gunasinghepura was sentenced to death by High Court Judge Padman Surasena for possessing and trafficking 6.58 grams of heroine on September 23, 2007.
The accused was arrested near the Rupavahini Corporation army barrier at Bullers Road. The army had stopped the trishaw that the accused drew and had searched the trishaw and the accused for any suspicious things. Then they had recovered  a parcel of  heroin from the trouser pocket of the accused. At the time of the search there had been a passenger in the vehicle who was released  later. The army had handed over the  accused to Cinnamon Gardens’ Police.
