Sun Yongyao, 20, and his girlfriend, Guo Baorong, 36, charged with masterminding and detonating a bomb at a ballroom in northwest China's Xi'an City in September were found guilty and sentenced to death by the local intermediate people's court. The two were held responsible for the explosion on September 17, in which two persons were seriously wounded. According to court records, Sun, a local pharmaceutical plant employee, plotted the bomb attack with Guo, his new lover, to kill a farmer surnamed Li, one of Guo's former lovers.
