Support for the death penalty for convicted murderers in North Carolina is at 65%, its lowest since 1984, according to a new University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill statewide poll. The poll also reflects that whites favor the death penalty more than blacks by a margin of almost two to one (73% vs. 37%).
