the Syrian dissident and founder of the Liberal Unionist Party Dr Kamal Al Labwani may be sentenced to hard labour or even death if the court accepts the accusations against him, said his lawyer Anwar Al Bana.

Labwani was arrested in November 2005 at the Damascus airport on his way back from the United States.
The Syrian regime accused him of conniving with the US. Labwani was earlier charged with providing false information, for which he could get three year jail term, if convicted.
