ten Egyptians on the death row in Libya escaped capital punishment after the families of their victims accepted blood money in return for pardoning them, said an Egyptian diplomat. Mahmoud Uf, assistant foreign minister for People's Assembly and Shura Council affairs, said the 10 are among 23 Egyptians sentenced to death in Libya over murder charges. The families' pardon has to be documented in official papers and sent to the Libyan authorities to stop the execution, he said.
