Richard Masterson, 43, White, was executed in Texas.
Masterson had claimed the January 2001 strangulation of 35-year-old Darin Shane Honeycutt was accidental and happened accidentally during a chokehold that was part of a sex act. The 2 had met at a bar and then went to Honeycutt's apartment. Honeycutt was an entertainer who performed dressed as a woman. Honeycutt's stage name was Brandi Houston.
Masterson becomes the 1st inmate to be put to death this year in Texas, the 532nd overall since the state resumed capital punishment on December 7, 1982, the 2nd inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1424th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
