Than Nhan Bo, 44, Duong Ngo Luyen, 46, and Trang A Co, 26, were sentenced to death by a court in Vietnam's northern province of Bac Giang at the conclusion of a two-day trial.
They had been found guilty of trafficking more than 3 Kg of heroin from neighbouring Laos over a two-month period in 2002, before their arrest in July 2002. Seven other defendants received prison terms ranging from seven to 20 years.
