The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Shamsul Arefin condemned to death Ershad Ali Sikder, a notorious terrorist, for the killing of a murder witness. Sikder had already been condemned to death in three other trials for murder. According to the prosecution, a night guard [identified only as]Panna who was a witness in the Commissioner Moslem Sardar murder case, was shot and stabbed by a group of terrorists in the Joragate area on October 16, 1997.
