The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) called on the New National Party (NNP) to disband after its leader promoted the reinstatement of the death penalty in his Women's Day message.
"The NNP compromised their values and voted in favour of removing the death penalty. If (NNP leader Marthinus) van Schalkwyk believes they were wrong, he should have the courage to admit their mistakes," Eastern Cape ACDP youth spokeswoman Tumi Tlale said in a statement.
"If he does not do this then he is simply busy with politicking, at the expense of women who have suffered through the years."
