The Black Saints Arts stage their two man act play Kiss the Hangman at the Chingola Arts Society on June 29 and 30. Kiss the Hangman is another tale from the politically inclined playwright John Ntulisha.
Best known for plays like Homes Opera and African Sandauni, Ntulisha, this time advocates the enhancement of tolerance, dialogue and reconciliation in the promotion of democratic governance in Africa and discourages the imposition and infliction of the death penalty. The play centres on Chalai, a prisoner waiting to be executed. Confined to cell zero for three days, before his execution, Chalai is tortured, deceived and deflated-but one kiss will change everything.
The play stars Nicholas Mwila as the Hangman and Sydney Mwape as Chalai the prisoner waiting to be hanged.
