The Chamber of the Republics of the Yugoslav parliament passed a bill on criminal proceedings and changes and amendments to the Yugoslav Penal Law pertaining to abolishment of the death penalty and its substitution with 40 years in prison
The Chamber of the Republics of the Yugoslav parliament passed a bill on criminal proceedings and changes and amendments to the Yugoslav Penal Law pertaining to abolishment of the death penalty and its substitution with 40 years in prison.
Yugoslav Deputy Justice Minister Nebojsa Sarkic said the law regulated in a new way the position of the Interior Ministry on investigating criminal acts, the position of the suspect in pre-trial and trial proceedings, defence, establishment of facts and defendant rights.
The Chamber of Citizens will debate further changes to the penal law on November 1.
