The Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Qazi Hussain Ahmed, condemned the death penalty for Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, stating that he should be tried in an open court. In an interview with BBC, Qazi Hussain Ahmed said he condemned the killing of Daniel Pearl and also opposes all forms of terrorism, but that justice must also be done. "It is not justice to announce the death sentence to Omar Sheikh on the charges of murder of Daniel Pearl. The case should be proceeded in a court openly and Omar Sheikh should be given the right to present his stance before the court so that everybody is satisfied that he has been given justice," the Jamaat leader demanded.
