The Committees on Revision of Laws and Human Rights of the Philippine House of Representatives will meet on April 24 to vote on the abolition of the death penalty law, the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) said.
FLAG campaigns against the death penalty in the Philippines.
"If we get enough votes (and indications are that we just may), the bill will be reported out to the House of Representatives for voting. It is possible that we may see the repeal of the death penalty law this year," Cookie Diokno, FLAG Secretary General, said.
