The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) denied reports that seven Filipinos in Saudi Arabia were executed on April 5.
"(It) is not true that they (the seven Filipinos) are facing execution," DFA spokesperson Victoriano M. Lecaros told a press conference.
Mr. Lecaros said there are pending cases involving overseas Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia, "but there are no imminent execution that the DFA knows of." There are a total of 35 Filipinos facing capital punishment all over the world, including in Libya, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
The DFA noted that some of these cases have been commuted to life imprisonment.
