The court in Zhoushan City in east China's Zhejiang Province found that a woman, Miao Saixian, 59, cheated 46 people out of a total of 6.18 million yuan (about 745,000 US dollars) between June 1994 and June 2000. Miao illegally raised the money in the form of loans, promising high rates of interest, to finance her profitable zinc factory.
