The Criminal Court in Thailand ordered that a couple who were arrested and detained for embezzling over Bt1.32 billion be extradited to China. The extradition of Mr. Shen Mun Sung and his wife, Mrs. Shen Sow Yuan, was as the request of the Chinese government, the Criminal Court said in its verdict. Chinese authorities found that the couple and officials of the Bank of China, Guongdon Branch, consprired to swindle a total cash of 292 yuan (Bt1.32) from the branch office of the Chinese central bank in 1995. The Thai and Chinese governments signed an extradition agreement. The couple will not be executed in China, but will be sent back to Thailand within one month after an ultimate ruling of the Chinese court. The couple will continue to serve their jail terms in Thailand.
