The Criminal Court sentenced to death a woman convicted of trafficking 29 kilograms of heroin.
Sunan Pinit, 45, a duck vendor, was arrested in Muang district in the northern province of Lamphun in December 1998 with 48 bars of heroin hidden in a secret compartment of her pickup truck, court documents said.
Prosecutors said that Sunan and her fugitive accomplices had links with drugs-smuggling gangs throughout northern Thailand and had successfully evaded police investigations on several trafficking trips.
