the Delta State High court in Owa-Oyibu, Nigeria, sentenced Nkem Okolie to death by hanging for hacking a fellow farmer, Matthew Odum, to death in the farm while he was planting yam seedlings. The prosecution held that the deceased went to his farm in Obior with his daughter on April 21, 2004, and was shot dead by the accused who was accompanied by about 10 boys. Delivering his judgment, Justice Ogisi said in his eight-page judgment, having examined the evidence of the witnesses who recovered the deceased’s body and the witness who performed the post mortem examination, that there was an overwhelming evidence Okolie was guilty.
