The Fiji military charged 39 rebel soldiers with mutiny over a failed uprising at Suva's Queen Elizabeth Barracks on November 2 in which eight soldiers were killed and seven wounded.
The soldiers from the elite Counter Revolutionary Warfare (CRW) unit will face a military court martial in February 2001 and could be sentenced to death if found guilty, army legal adviser Lieutenant Colonel Ratu Etueni Caucau said.
