The Governor of Zamfara State, Ahmed Sani Yerima, started his election campaign for a second term in Kaura Namoda, headquarters of Kaura Namoda Local Council, vowing to carry out the death penalty passed on anyone by a sharia court in the state. Similarly, amputation sentences by Sharia courts would not be stopped, he added. He said that any husband or married woman who committed adultery and was sentenced by a Sharia court would be stoned to death and that anyone convicted of murder would be killed in accordance with the Sharia legal system. "If you remove anyone's eye, we would remove yours. If you remove anyone's nose, we are going to remove yours. If you remove anyone's ear, we are going to remove yours. If you remove anyone's leg, we are going to remove yours. If you kill anyone, we are going to kill you. If you steal, we are going to amputate your wrist. And if you commit adultery and you are married, we are going to stone you to death," Yerima declared.
