The hanging of Mohammed Arshad alias Mola, was set for October 14 in the new Central Jail of Bahawalpur. On July 6, a Division Bench of the Lahore High Court had upheld the death sentence handed down to Mohammad Arshad for murdering Rani Pervin. According to the prosecution, the accused was beaten by the brother of the deceased for hurling indecent words at Pervin on March 25, 1994. A week later Mola went to Rani's house and shot her dead in vengeance.
