The head of the Judiciary, [Mahmud] Hashemi-Shahrudi participated in a gathering of Tehran University students and responded to the questions they put to him.
Commenting on the university dormitory case [reference to unrest in the Tehran University dormitory, summer of 1999] and the Khorramabad incident [reference to unrest in the city, summer of 2000], the head of the Judiciary stated: "What was mentioned in the case was investigated and as far as certain aspects of the case are concerned, the case remains open. I asked the supreme leader of the revolution to pardon those who had been given a death sentence and this was done."
He added: "I called for pardoning all the students involved in this case, as well as in the Khorramabad incident. This morning, I was informed that the proposal for pardoning them had been accepted."
