The High Court of Singapore dismissed an appeal by a Thai national, who was sentenced to death in August 2001, for the murder of a taxi driver.
Khwan-On Natthaphon, 27, had appealed against the sentence, seeking culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Cabbie Ong Huay Dee, 65, was murdered in his taxi at Pasir Ris Drive 1 in June 2000.Khwan-On fled with the victim's wallet and mobile phone.
Defence counsel N.K. Rajah said Khwan-On had tried calling the police and one of his friends after the attack, suggesting his client was remorseful and in a delusional state
However, prosecutor Ng Cheng Thiam said this had been considered by the trial judge.
He said Khwan-On did not actually tell anyone about the attack as he had hung up on the police and was unable to contact his friend.
The prosecutor added that Khwan-On's conduct showed he was aware of what he had done and was not in a dazed state.
