The Ho Chi Minh City Supreme People's Court, Vietnam, ruled that the death sentence handed down to Huynh Van Gioi in November 2003 for murdering a 10-year-old girl should stand.
Gioi, 20, was convicted of strangling Trinh Thi Tu Quyen and drowning her in a large water pot on February 13, 2003. He then fled with money and jewellery from her family house but was arrested 11 days later.
