The Ho Chi Minh City Supreme People's Court, Vietnam, ruled that the death sentence handed down to Huynh Van Gioi, 20, in November 2003 should stand. Gioi, who was unemployed, was convicted of strangling ten year old Trinh Thi Tu Quyen, and drowning her in a large water pot on February 13, 2003. He then fled with money and jewelry from her family house but was arrested 11 days later.
