The Iranian Judiciary denied having received any decree from supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamene'i to review a court ruling on the execution of jailed dissident Hashem Aghajari.
"No order has been sent to the Judiciary by his eminence (Ayatollah Khamene'i) and no state ruling has been issued," Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmud Hashemi-Shahrudi told a top judicial session.
A provisional court in western Hamedan Province had the previous week reaffirmed the death sentence on Aghajari, who was held on blasphemy charges.
