the military garrison court of Goma, in North Kivu, condemned to the death Kambale Kitambala, a soldier of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo. He was convicted of killing a mechanic, Maliza Kwenda, aged 25 years. The military shot him in the abdomen when he refused to give him the hat he was wearing. The Goma garrison Military Court delivered its verdict around 17h local, in the presence of a huge crowd came to attend the hearing. Besides the death penalty, the soldier, Kambale Kitambala, was also ordered to pay a sum of 250,000 US dollars, payable in Congolese francs to the family of the victim.
