The Military Tribunal sentenced three men to death and three others to long jail terms for two separate murders.
Hassan Khalil Ruhayem was condemned for the 1997 murder of a money changer, Jamal Hayek, in Kuweikhat, Akkar.
Ruhayem along with First Sergeant Hassan Khalil Ruhayem and Hamad Ahmad Hazim, tried to rob Hayek, and when he resisted, Ruhayem shot him. His two accomplices were sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with hard labour.
Lance Corporal Hussam Ahmad Hazim and Hassan Khalil Ruhayem were condemned to death for premeditated murder and robbery. A third man, Mohammed Ahmad Hazim, got five years in prison. The three men were convicted for robbing and killing jeweller Omar Mikati and his wife in their store in Tripoli.
