The Parliamentary Justice Commission approved late on the day the bill on adjusment with the EU. The bill lifts death sentence for terrorist crimes and limits it to only war and situations of imminent war, and it abolishes death penalty for crimes of terrorism in the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) and replaces it with life time prison sentence. Under the bill, inmates whose sentences are changed from death penalty to life in prison will not benefit from penalty reductions or conditional release. They will be kept in prison until they die.
