The People's Supreme Court in Ho Chi Minh City upheld the death sentence for Vietnamese American Bui Huu Tai, 33, who was charged with drug trafficking and possession.The sentence was the harshest penalty given to an overseas Vietnamese. Tai, a criminal wanted by Interpol, returned to Vietnam in 1995 under a false passport. With assistance from Nguyen Thi Hoa, he traded 1.6kg of heroin and 1.1kg of opium.
