The regime executed some 25 Republican Guard officers. Radio "Voice of Free Iraq" cited Brig Tawfiq al-Yasiri as saying that "the regime executed Staff Brigadier Abd al-Karim al-Dulaymi and some 25 officers in Radwaniyah prison in Baghdad where they had been held since 1999 on charges of `negligence and laxity' in confronting the mujahidin in southern Iraq".
