Egypt executed two Moslem militants, Ahmed el-Naggar and Ahmed Ismail. Ismail was handed a death sentence in 1994 for his involvement in an assassination attempt against then Prime Minister Atef Sedki. Naggar was sentenced to death in another case in 1997. Both verdicts were issued by military tribunals. The two men, suspected members of the militant group Jihad (holy war), were handed over to Egypt by Albania in 1998.
