The Rev. Floyd M. Schoenhals, Bishop Arkansas-Oklahoma Synod Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and Moses Mast, communion leader for the Mennonite Church, and Robert M. Moody, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma, have issued statements calling for a moratorium on the death penalty in Oklahoma. These are the 5th and 6th statements issued by church leaders since July 2000. The others include Archbishop Eusebius Beltran, Roman Catholic Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City; Bishop Edward Slattery, Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Tulsa; Elder Carolyn Stephens, Executive Presbyter, Indian Nations Presbytery; and Bishop Bruce P. Blake, Bishop, United Methodist Church, Oklahoma Conference, Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference.
