The Sawrawi [Revolutionary] Democratic Front of Eritrea [opposition group] said the EPLF [Eritrean People's Liberation Front]-led government executed 15 soldiers for allegedly retreating from the fighting that took place between the Ethiopian and Eritrean armies at the Mereb front [western front]. Propaganda section representative with the Front, Negusie Bahta, told ENA [Ethiopian News Agency] recently that the soldiers were members of the 26th Division of the Eritrean army. The regime rewarded the military officers of the division, who carried out execution, he said. The execution prompted chaos among the army, he said, adding the executioners were being heavily guarded.
