The Sichuan Provincial Higher People's Court imposed the death sentence on Li Yushu, former deputy mayor of Leshan City in the southwest China Province, for taking bribes and other crimes

The Sichuan Provincial Higher People's Court imposed the death sentence on Li Yushu, former deputy mayor of Leshan City in the southwest China Province, for taking bribes and other crimes.
Li was also deprived of his political rights for life and all his personal property was confiscated.
Investigations show that from May 1996 onwards Li, by taking advantage of his position, received 8.16m yuan (about 980,000 US dollars) in bribes, a Luxe IS200 sedan car, a Mazda 929 sedan car and a Rolex watch. Li could not give a legal source for more than 3m yuan in cash and goods.
